Inspirational Text service Inspires £1000 Make-a-Wish Foundation Donation
The current ‘Berkshire and Wiltshire Shell LiveWIRE Entrepreneur of the Year’ has raised more than £1000 for the Make-a-wish Foundation by running a half marathon in 2 hours.
Wokingham-based Wish2getha.Com proprietor Habeeb Adeokun and running partner Akin Olunloyo raised the money at The New Forest Half Marathon on Sunday 19th September with the help of inspirational texts to their mobile phones.
Quotes2mobile is believed to be the world’s first SMS (Short Messaging Service) messaging to motivate and inspire people by delivering inspirational quotes and messages to boost self confidence and self esteem – direct to mobile phones.
It’s available across the globe in 170 countries and covers over 560 Mobile Networks worldwide.
Both Habeeb, and running partner Akin Olunloyo, used the service as part of their training regime as Habeeb reveals,
“The quotes2mobile service is all about helping people to achieve anything they set their hearts on. I’m not a natural athlete but I set my heart on finishing the half marathon.”
Habeeb was delighted to finish the race in 2hrs 20 secs - Akin finished in 2hrs 24mins.
And quite a few of Habeeb’s sponsors enjoyed free access to his new Quotes2mobile text service too as he reveals,
“It was all about raising as much money for charity as possible at the end of the day. £1000 was an ambitious target. But maybe our offer of free quotes2mobile texts helped to twist potential sponsors.
“We’re hugely grateful to each and every one of them.”
Habeeb and Akin ran the 13-mile course to help raise money for The Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children up to 18 years of age with life threatening illnesses.

About Wish2getha
The idea of Wish2getha was born in April 2002 through a chance conversation when one of Habeeb’s friends was advised to keep a wish list to ‘help you focus on what you want from life’. Further discussions with Habeeb about wish lists developed into informal research of friends’ and family’s wish lists. This in turn identified a need for a way to access personal wish lists at anytime and from anywhere in the world – and wish2getha.com was born. The site was launched on the 29th of December 2003 after a year of planning – the first wish realised on the 2getha group’s wish list!
The New Forest Marathon. First run in1983 with about 800 runners and in 1999 this figure had risen to about 1700 runners. One year it peaked at 2300 entrants. This event is purely raising money for charity. The other largest charity fundraiser has been the events staged for the BBC’s Children in Need.
Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK has one simple aim - to grant the wishes of children aged 3 to 18 living with life-threatening illnesses. A wish granted is true magic for the child and provides happy memories for all the family and respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment. They achieve this through a combination of professionalism, high attention to detail and sensitivity; nothing is too much trouble for their children. Since 1986 thanks to Make-A-Wish Foundation®UK nearly 3,000 very special children have realised their greatest dream and experienced the hope, strength and joy each wish provides.
